MySpace Bust...
Sometime last winter, my mom excitedly comes to me with the news that all of my younger cousins are keeping in touch on-line, "you know, kinda like that bloggy thing you do with your other cousins!" So I ask her if it is indeed the "bloggy thing" that they're doing and after calling her sister to confirm, she says "it's something called MySpace..."
Well, with that limited information, I was hardly able to check it out but another month goes by and she tells me it's under my cousin Aaron's band name. So I check it out and indeed, there are all of my younger cousins, being hip and edgy and chatting it up.
I didn't want to be a lurker, but Andy's all freaked out about the privacy factors and company in MySpace (being as it's on the news every other night) so I made an attempt to befriend them using the alias "Frankie Incognito"; thinking that it would be fun to be involved, but at the same time, I could fly below the radar (thus keeping my husband happy and not giving myself up as that old & boring straight-laced cousin of theirs...)
Well, after a while, I found it very boring to be a stranger. I started laying the obvious on thick, such as "wow, I'm from North St. Paul too!" "I had an aunt and uncle in wrestling too!" and of course, the obvious "man, we could be cousins!" While it seemed like the perfect way to reveal myself, I'm sure they're just thinking "who is this person!?"
Having been defeated in my clever attempts to reveal myself, and having a crappy internet connection, I got lazy and gave up. It's been a few months since I've been on the site or checking in on this cousins. But alas, I got a call from mom the other day "check your MySpace thingy!" And there was a message from my cousin Kandis entitled "BUSTED!" Evidently, it was eating at my mom too - so during a conversation with my aunt, she revealed who exactly "Frankie" was.
Ah well, it was fun being young and edgy while it lasted (though now I realize I should have embellished a little more!!)

thats hilarious... It's good that it's all out in the open... I am sure all of your cousins are thrilled with how cool and hip you really are!:)
that's really funny. I mean the part about the edgy cousin being Kandis. isn't she still "Keeper" in long blond pigtails?
I know!! I was just talking about that last night; there is a little blonde-haired girl with big blue eyes that comes to Elliott's baseball games that is an exact duplicate of Kandis when she was that age. So so cute (makes me miss the old days when I would mother hen the poor child!)
